Silver Singles and Our Time were a waste of my money

OurTime.com is a dating app for people over the age of 50 and earlier this year I signed up. I dutifully provided a complete profile, swiped right on a lot of photos, and sent messages to men I hoped to hear from. I vowed to answer all messages I received and I did, until I realized how many were from fake accounts. Fake accounts means scammers and there are a lot more of them now than there were when I started using dating apps after my divorce.

I switched to Silver Singles and was relieved to receive fewer messages from fake profiles. Silver Singles also provided the courtesy of emailing me when someone who had contacted me turned out to be a fake profile. This would have been helpful if I weren’t already good at figuring out when a profile is fake.

The first indicator that a men-interested-in-women profile is fake is when the person comes on too strong or with a heavy compliment. “You are so beautiful!” is nice to hear, except when their profile has strangely punctuated sentences and too much information crammed together.
